This year\u2019s edition of the glamorous Awo Cup community football competition will take place at Ogijo, a bustling town on the border between Lagos and Ogun States, Sports247 reports.<\/p>\n

This was disclosed by the competition\u2019s foreign-based sponsor, Emmanuel Olakunle Awosanmi, who added that the serene countryside of Ogoji, near Ikorodu, was chosen to host this year\u2019s competition because he recently relocated his football academy to the town.<\/p>\n

Awosanmi further told Sports247 that the competition, which debuted on December 26th, 2018 at Bishop Aggey Memorial Grammar School, Mushin, is staging a comeback after six years of inactivity.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the third edition of the competition. I rested it because of the covid-19 pandemic, but it\u2019s now coming back, with Ogijo as the new venue \u2026 and it will surely be better than the ones before it.<\/p>\n

\u201cThough the competition was on hold, I did not stop pushing my interest in grassroots football. That\u2019s why I started sponsoring an academy at my former base in Mushin, where I used to train at Eko Boys High School.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe academy has under-13, under-17 and free age categories. They now train at Ogijo but usually play away matches. I decided to relocate the academy in order to take my talent hunting efforts to another community, not just where I grew up,\u201d Awosanmi disclosed.<\/p>\n

The former defender concluded by expressing a strong level of optimism that the final of Awo Cup 2025 will be a very memorable occasion on December 14th at Ogijo Community School.<\/p>\n
