Spanish-Nigerian striker Samu Omorodion has been nominated for the La Liga U23 Player of the Month for February 2024 following his impressive performances for Deportivo Alav\u00e9s in the said month.<\/p>\n
\nThe talented forward is in contention with Manchester United loanee Mason Greenwood, Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal, Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, and Real Betis’ Johnny Cardoso for the award.<\/p>\n
\nOmorodion has been in red-hot form in recent weeks, scoring in three consecutive La Liga games including a strike against defending champions Barcelona but has only scored twice this month.<\/p>\n
\nHe is set to face stern competition, particularly from Yamal who has bagged 2 goals and two assists in his last 3 games, and Camavinga who has excelled in the middle of the park for Real Madrid.<\/p>\n
\nOmorodion has also been nominated alongside teammate \u00c1lex Sola for the Play\u00a0of the Month which is given to the best build-up leading to a goal.<\/p>\n
\nThe duo combined for Alav\u00e9s’ only goal in their defeat to Barcelona with Sola swinging a cross with the outside of his boot which found the head of the unmarked Spanish youth international.<\/p>\n
\nThey will have to beat Vinicius Junior’s beautiful build-up with Jude Bellingham for Real Madrid’s second goal in their 4-0 thrashing of Girona and Gorka Guruzeta’s assist for Yuri \u00a0Berchiche during \u00a0Athletic Bilbao’s victory over Real Mallorca to the award.<\/p>\n
