2023 Super Eagles invitee Gift Orban has been nominated for the UEFA Europa Conference League Goal of the Week for matchday five.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\nThe 21-year-old scored a sumptuous goal in Gent’s 4-1 victory over Zorya Lugansk at the Ghelamco Arena on Thursday night.<\/p>\n
\nFive minutes before the hour mark in the encounter, the diminutive striker got a cross from right-back Noah Fadiga, controlled the ball and put it beyond the reach of the goalkeeper.<\/p>\n

He is set to battle Aleksandar Pe\u0161i\u0107 who scored with a stunning strike for Ferencv\u00e1ros in their 2-1\u00a0win over FK \u010cukari\u010dk, \u00a0Club Brugge midfielder Casper Nielsen and Aberdeen defender \u00a0Angus MacDonald for the award.<\/p>\n
\nWhile Orban has failed to hit his strides in the Jupiler Pro League, he has continued his impressive goalscoring form in the Conference League.<\/p>\n
\nHe is the joint top scorer of the competition this season with 5 goals in five games, the same as Benjamin Nygren of Nordsj\u00e6lland.<\/p>\n
\nHis strike yesterday also made him equal Cyriel Dessers’ tally of \u00a010 goals in the tournament and move two behind Arthur Cabral, the all-time top scorer.<\/p>\n
\nWith Gent securing their place in the next round, the diminutive striker could surpass Cabral’s number of goals in the competition before the end of the season.<\/p>\n
