With a statement on their official website<\/a>, Crystal Palace have confirmed that Flying Eagles-eligible central defender Mofe Jemide has inked a new contract with the club.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Jemide, who began the 2023-2024 season as a first-year scholar, has signed his first professional contract with the Eagles, a reward for his outstanding performances for the youth teams.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Last season, he was one of the most used players in the academy ranks, playing in 25 out of a possible 26 games in all competitions for the U18 side.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

On the international stage, he helped England qualify for the 2023 Fifa U17 World Cup in Indonesia, making three appearances in the group stage of the tournament held in Hungary.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Tottenham-born defender joined Crystal Palace from Barnet at the age of eleven and\u00a0featured for the U21s in their pre-season tour of Salt Lake City in the summer.\u00a0<\/p>\n


\nHe has been described as a commanding, modern-day, centre-back who is comfortable on the ball and calm under pressure.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Jemide was a member of the Palace squad that\u00a0finished runners-up in the U15 National Floodlit Cup final against Sunderland in the 2021-2022 season.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 17-year-old will be aiming to follow in the footsteps of Victor Moses and David Ozoh who rose through the academy ranks to make their first team debuts for Crystal Palace.<\/p>\n
