{"id":3565,"date":"2023-09-24T01:28:22","date_gmt":"2023-09-24T00:28:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/faca.com.ng\/web\/2023\/09\/24\/nyg-2023-lagos-bayelsa-dominate-weightlifting-event\/"},"modified":"2023-09-24T01:28:22","modified_gmt":"2023-09-24T00:28:22","slug":"nyg-2023-lagos-bayelsa-dominate-weightlifting-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/faca.com.ng\/web\/2023\/09\/24\/nyg-2023-lagos-bayelsa-dominate-weightlifting-event\/","title":{"rendered":"NYG 2023 : Lagos, Bayelsa Dominate Weightlifting Event"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports247.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/IMG-20230923-WA0215.jpg\" data-caption=\"\"><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"561\" height=\"483\" class=\"entry-thumb td-modal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sports247.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/IMG-20230923-WA0215.jpg\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sports247.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/IMG-20230923-WA0215.jpg 561w, https:\/\/www.sports247.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/IMG-20230923-WA0215-300x258.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.sports247.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/IMG-20230923-WA0215-488x420.jpg 488w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 561px) 100vw, 561px\" alt=\"\" title=\"IMG-20230923-WA0215\"\/><\/noscript><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Lagos and Bayelsa States set the pace in the medals table in opening day of weightlifting event at the 7th National Youth Games, NYG in Asaba, Delta State Capital.<\/p>\n<p>Lagos State won three medals, two gold and a  a bronze in the women\u2019s 45kg while Bayelsa State picked all the three gold medals in the 49kg men\u2019s category.<\/p>\n<p>Ezenwa Chinaza was just two kilos away from winning gold medal in snatch but her 53kg lift could only fetch her a bronze.<\/p>\n<p>However, she made amends in the clean and jerk lifting 70kg to get a total of 123kg which fetched her two gold medals<\/p>\n<p>Ezenwa Esther from Abia State won gold in snatch and bronze in clean and Jerk lifting 55kg and 67kg respectively<\/p>\n<p>Christiana  Ollorma from Rivers State won all the three silver medals on offer with 54kg snatch, 68kg clean and jerk and 122 total.<\/p>\n<p>Matthew Martin Precious from  Cross River State won bronze medal in total with 114kg lift<\/p>\n<p>In the men\u2019s 49kg category, Stephen Godswill from Bayelsa State collected all the three gold medals at stake after lifting 56kg snatch, 67kg clean and jerk and 123kg total.<\/p>\n<p>Rivers State\u2019d Samson Deagon Teron came second after he also picked all the three silver medals on offer.
