The Nigeria Football Federation \u2013 NFF will appoint an Interim Coach to oversee the Super Eagles AFCON qualifier vs Sao Tome and Principe, SportsRation reports.<\/p>\n
This is as revealed by a source privy to happenings at the Glasshouse who confirmed the Federation will not rush ongoing contract renewal negotiations with Portuguese gaffer Jose Peseiro.<\/p>\n
Instead, the NFF will name an Interim Coach to oversee the team for the \u2018dead rubber\u2019 Africa Cup of Nations last qualifying game vs Sao Tome and Principe on September 10 in Uyo.<\/p>\n
Nigeria booked a place at the AFCON to be hosted by Ivory Coast but will complete the phase with a clash vs Sao Tome and Principe at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.<\/p>\n
According to the source, NFF technical director Austin Eguavoen will step in to lead the team for the game in Uyo.<\/p>\n
Other options considered by the Nigeria Football Federation are Coach Salisu Yusuf and Enyimba International FC gaffer Finidi George.<\/p>\n
The appointment will be effected before September 4 when the Super Eagles camp will open in Uyo for the game vs Sao Tome Principe.<\/p>\n
Plans to renew the contract of Jose Peseiro has dragged since June 2023 due to differences over the salary of the former FC Porto manager.<\/p>\n
The NFF has openly declared it cannot afford to pay $70000 as Peseiro earned from his first contract when he took charge of the Super Eagles of Nigeria in 2022.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
