Nigeria Women\u2019s Volleyball team vs Burundi<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
In his post match reaction, Head coach of Nigeria women\u2019s Volleyball team, Samuel Ajayi praised the players for living up to expectations .<\/p>\n
Ajayi expressed hope that with adequate exposure, especially through international friendlies, the young team will improve to return the country to it\u2019s place at the top of Volleyball in the continent.<\/p>\n
The Coach said, \u201cMy players lived up to expectations during the match against Cameroon on Thursday and we struggled in the first set against Burundi but picked ourselves together at the end of the day.<\/p>\n
\u201cNigeria has participated in several championships over the years but we are currently rebuilding our women\u2019s national team.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou can all see that a large chunk of the team paraded are young and you do not expect them to be as spectacular as other teams that have been together for a very long time and participated at World Championships.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI believe in the coming years; Nigeria will return to where they rightfully belong,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Speaking on behalf of the players, team captain Comfort Amaonwu said, \u201cThe championship has lived up to its expectations and Nigeria is not going to give up.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe ( Nigeria ) came here to make a difference and not be scared of any team. You saw how we played the Cameroonians in our second match and expect a better performance from us against Algeria.\u201d<\/p>\n
Nigeria will face Algeria in their next game of the championship ongoing in Yoaunde Cameroun.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
