2021 Super Eagles invitee Michael Olise\u00a0ended speculation surrounding his future for the time being by signing a new four-year contract with Crystal Palace on Thursday, August 17.<\/p>\n

Olise was persuaded to stay by the powers that be at Crystal Palace so he can continue his development.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to reports,\u00a0Manchester City identified Olise as a possible replacement for Riyad Mahrez who moved to the Saudi Pro League this summer, while Chelsea are always in the market to sign the best young players in the world.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Olise\u00a0is viewed as one of the most exciting young talents in the Premier League and was in outstanding form for Crystal Palace in 2022-2023 with thirteen goal involvements in 37 appearances.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has admitted that he was worried when Chelsea showed interest in the France U21 international of Nigerian and Algerian descent.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

In quotes relayed by Crystal Palace’s official website<\/a>, Hodgson said: “I had been concerned \u2013 it\u2019s always concerning when a club of Chelsea\u2019s stature take interest in a player, and people will suggest that a move to them might be the best bet.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

“I had always hoped that wouldn\u2019t be the case and that Michael would realise that at such a young age his future here is very bright, and we can help him move very quickly on to another level. The decision has been his.”<\/p>\n

Hodgson confirmed that Olise will not make his season debut against Arsenal as he is still recovering from a hamstring injury he suffered while on international with France at the 2023 European U21 Championship.\u00a0<\/p>\n
