Super Falcons of Nigeria players have received backing from FIFPRO in their bonus row vs the Nigeria Football Federation \u2013 NFF.<\/p>\n
Recall that Nigeria\u2019s preparation for the 2023 FIFA Women\u2019s World Cup was blighted by stories of owed bonuses from 2021, a situation FIFPRO frowns at .<\/p>\n
In a statement released on Tuesday August 8, a day after the Super Falcons Women\u2019s World Cup exit, the Professional Football players union \u2013 FIFPRO announced it will help the players get their due from the Nigeria Football Federation.<\/p>\n
The players body wrote \u201cFIFPRO can confirm it is assisting players in a disagreement with the Nigeria Football Federation concerning bonus payments, camp allowances and expenses, some of which date back to 2021,\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring the World Cup, the players expressed the desire to remain focused on their performance without making public statements or facing other distractions.<\/p>\n
\u201d However, the Super Falcons believe that it is now time for the Nigeria Football Federation to honour their commitments and pay the outstanding amounts.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe team is extremely frustrated that they have had to pursue the Nigeria Football Federation for these payments before and during the tournament and may have to continue doing so afterwards,\u201d FIFPRO added.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is regrettable that players needed to challenge their own federation at such an important time in their careers<\/p>\n
,\u201d FIFPRO will continue to work with the players to ensure their contractual rights are honoured and the outstanding payments are settled.\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n
