Middlesbrough are trying to convince Arsenal’s Hale End Academy product Chuba Akpom to stay at the club beyond this summer.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Akpom\u00a0has not figured for\u00a0Middlesbrough in their pre-season games and was left out of the training camp squad to Portugal, but it has nothing to do with speculation linking him with a departure from the Riverside Stadium.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 27-year-old has not taken part in pre-season activities with the group because he is still recovering from a knee injury he sustained in his final game last season against Coventry City.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to Teesside Live<\/a>,\u00a0Middlesbrough have not received any offers for Akpom as of now but the striker is attracting interest from some Premier League and European clubs.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

With less than a year left on Akpom’s contract, Boro have a key decision to make\u00a0regarding the future of the prolific striker, whether to cash in on the player or allow him run down his contract if he does not sign a new deal.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Middlesbrough higher-ups are in talks with Akpom’s camp over a new contract but no agreement has been found yet.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Super Eagles hopeful had a breakout season in 2022-2023, scoring 28 goals in 38 appearances in the Championship to lead the scoring charts in the division.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Akpom\u00a0scooped the Championship Player of the Season at the EFL awards, and\u00a0claimed Boro’s Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year.\u00a0<\/p>\n
