Miracle Football Academy Coach Abdulgafar Cited In Community Secondary School’s Success Story

Coach Abdulgafar of Miracle Football Academy, Ijeshatedo, Lagos has been cited as a major brain behind the recent success of Community Secondary School at a gender competition in Surulere.

This follows a revelation by the school’s Civic Education teacher, Thomas Idris, who told Sports247 that he guided the students with tips provided by one of them, who happens to be a daughter of Coach Abdulgafar.

Mr Idris admitted that technical tips he got from Aliyaah Abdulgafar helped him select the right players for each match in the mini-competition that climaxed each day at the first Goals For Girls Leadership Summit in Surulere, Lagos.

His team ended up winning the competition on Day 1 of the summit that was organised by USA-based Goals For Girls executive director, Damilola Ogunbote at The Stable Sports Complex, Bode Thomas Road, Surulere.

He added in an exclusive chat with Sports247, “I also have some ideas of football, because I used to play on the streets when I was younger. I played in defensive midfield or central defence, and I still watch football regularly on TV.

“I prefer watching the English Premier League and my favourite club is Chelsea. My favourite foreign player is Caceido of Chelsea, while my best from Nigeria is Ademola Lookman.”

He then explained how the school’s victory became possible, in spite of stiff opposition they got from Iponri Estate High School, who had two outstanding players in their squad.

“I got a lot of tips from one of my students, whose dad happens to be a football coach. She said we should not play individual game and we must do everything as a team.

“Unlike Iponri, who had good players but they were not passing the ball, we just kept our cool and calmly planned how to score so that we could win the match,” Idris, who also teaches History, expatiated.

While pointing out the role played by Aliyaah, whose team train at a field near Ijesha Market, Idris also thanked his captain, Rihannat Olojo, for her leadership qualities.
