SUPREMACY CUP 2025: Beyond Limits’ Coach Olumide Takes Consolation From Winning Silver With ‘Evolving Team’

The head coach at Beyond Limits Football Academy of Ikenne, Joseph Olumide Ajibolade is taking consolations from his team’s loss to Ikorodu City FC of Lagos in the final of this year’s Supremacy Cup, as he disclosed that he brought an ‘evolving team’ to the competition.

Sports247 reports that last year’s winners failed to retain the glittering trophy on Thursday at Legacy Pitch of Lagos National Stadium, as they lost 5-4 on penalties to Ikorodu City, after drawing 2-2 at regulation time.

In the wake of the tight encounter, the youthful Coach Olumide admitted it was an intense game, as his side had to fight hard to equalise on the dot of full time to eke out a draw that took the tie into penalties.

“I don’t have anything to say about the match. It’s a matter of penalties. At that point, anything can happen. Since it was decided on penalties, I believe that we did not lose,” Olumide theorised.

The tall gaffer, who many observers referred to as the best youth football development coach in Nigeria, further pointed out that it was virtually a new squad he brought to the competition.

He further told Sports247 that many of the players with whom he won promotion to the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) last season have sealed deals abroad
