Shedrack Akanni’s Hat Trick Helps Super Accurate FA Win Ijegun U10 Gold Cup

Three well-struck goals by Shedrack Akanni were the major talking point in the final of this year’s Ijegun Boys U10 Gold Cup, as his hat trick propelled Super Accurate Football Academy to a stunning 4-1 victory over Sammy FA.

Sports247 was present live, as Coach Oseni Idris Adewale (aka Super) marshalled his kids to completely shock the hosts’ team on their training ground and return to their base at nearby Ikotun with the glittering trophy from the pitch located along Ijegun-Isheri Road.

Akanni opened scoring after just five minutes of the pulsating game then added two more goals late in the second half to wipe away all hope held by the home team, who initially pulled the scoreline close at 2-1 with a sizzler from Divine Rasak, but it was not good enough to stop Coach Super’s rampaging kids.

The crew of commentators, led by ace grassroots sports reporter, Sunday Akintoye, were full of excitement while singing accolades for Coach Oseni’s boys, whose other goal was scored by Iyanu Omotosho, backed by equally amazing performances by their goalkeeper, Ibrahim as well as Jamal in midfield.

It was no surprise during the presentation of awards that ‘Super’ was declared best coach and Omotosho emerged as the most valuable player of the entire competition, while Sammy FA got another consolation, as their shot-stopper, Moses Adigun got the best goalkeeper’s prize.

Accolades also went out for the scorer of Sammy’s consolation goal, Divine Rasak, who many fans in the crowd hailed as a promising lad, despite his side’s shock capitulation on the evening at Ijegun Field, where they have been rated best among many others over the years.

One of Sammy FA’s fans, James Thanni moaned, “I don’t know what happened to them in this final. They usually do well here. Maybe they were overconfident, because they were playing the final at home.”

Another talking point, though, was the poor condition of the pitch, which has become bumpy due to poor drainage outlets that have left it vulnerable to erosion and flooding, while several patches of gravel are also seen across the surface.

“We need artificial grass here, like what they now have at Iyana Ejigbo Field after Egbe and Islamic Pitch at Ikotun. We also need gutters to be cleared and expanded round the field,” Thanni posited.
