Boston Celtics Heat, Cavaliers, Mavericks all win


The Boston Celtics began the 2023-24 NBA season with a 108-104 win over the New York Knicks. Jayson Tatum led the scoring with 34 points and 11 rebounds, and Kristaps Porzingis scored 30 points. RJ Barrett scored 24 points for the Knicks.

Orlando Magic claimed a huge 116-86 win over the Houston Rockets to start the new NBA season. Cole Anthony scored 20 points and Franz Wagner added 19 points for the winners. Alperen Sengun scored 14 points for the Rockets.

Indiana Pacers defeated the Washington Wizards 143-120 in their season opener. Bruce Brown Jr led the scoring for his side with 24 points, and Tyrese Halliburton contributed 20 points and 11 assists. Kyle Kuzma scored 25 points for the Wizards.

Cleveland Cavaliers picked up a narrow 114-113 win over the Brooklyn Nets to open the season with a win. Max Strus contributed 27 points and 12 rebounds, and Donovan Mitchell added 27 points of his own. Cam Thomas scored 36 points for the Nets.

Toronto Raptors defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 97-94 to begin the 2023-24 season. Dennis Schroder led the scoring with 22 points and OG Anunoby added 20 points for the Raptors. Anthony Edwards scored 26 points and 14 rebounds for the Timberwolves.

Charlotte Hornets defeated the Atlanta Hawks 116-110 with a dominant display to start the new NBA season. PJ Washington scored 25 points, and Terry Rozier scored 24 points for the Hornets. Trae Young scored 23 points for the Hawks in their defeat.

Miami Heat edged the Detroit Pistons 103-102 in their first match of the 2023-24 NBA season to get off to a winning start. Bam Adebayo scored 22 points and Jimmy Butler scored 19 points and 13 rebounds for the Heat. Cade Cunningham recorded 30 points for the Pistons.

New Orleans Pelicans claimed a 111-104 win over the Memphis Grizzlies in their season opener. CJ McCollum scored 24 points and Zion Williamson scored 23 points for the Pelicans. Desmond Bane contributed 31 points for the Grizzlies.

Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Chicago Bulls 124-104 to emerge with a win to start the 2023-24 NBA season. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 31 points and ten assists, and Josh Giddey added 16 points for OKC, as DeMar DeRozan scored 20 points for the Bulls.

Sacramento Kings claimed a 130-114 win over the Utah Jazz in their season opener. Harrison Barnes led the scoring with 33 points, and Domantas Sabonis scored 22 points and 12 rebounds. Jordan Clarkson scored 24 points in the game.

Dallas Mavericks picked up a 126-119 win over the San Antonio Spurs in their opening encounter this season. Luka Doncic led the scoring with a 33-point, 13-rebound and 10-assist triple-double, and Kyrie Irving scored 22 points. Darius Vassell scored 23 points for the Spurs in the game.

Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 123-111 to start the new season in the NBA. Paul George led the scoring with 27 points and Kawhi Leonard scored 23 points for the Clippers. Malcolm Brogdon scored 20 points for the Trail Blazers.
