Strong Dove Football Academy Revive Former Arsenal Star Arshavin’s Memories At Coker Field

Fond memories are being relived in the Coker-Orile area of Lagos about the glorious days that Arsenal of England enjoyed with their former Russian star, Andrey Arshavin (The Assassin), Sports247 reports.

This is sequel to the presence of a youthful coach, Biodun Lasisi, whose nickname is ‘Arshavin,’ and he is currently waxing strong with Strong Dove Football Academy at a popualr venue known as Coker Field.

The sandy arena is known to have provided the foundation for the growth of iconic Nigerian talents like Obafemi Akinwunmi Martins, Benjamin Chukwuka Onwuachi and Nnamdi Vincent Oduamadi, but new stars of the future are now growing there under the care of ‘Coach Arshavin.’

The former right-back defender for Ultimate FC of Surulere told Sports247 how he was inspired to start his own ‘football school’ in 2012 because he felt a strong urge to discover fresh heroes at the ever busy pitch located within the premises of Coker High School.

“We don’t have a sponsor, and the players have to support themselves with money sourced from their parents or saving their daily stipends for school.

“That’s why I always appreciate the efforts of the boys, ably led by my captain, Olaynka Saheed, who’s also a strong central defender for the team,” said Lasisi.

He equally stated delight with how the under-13 boys’ squad of Strong Dove FA recently made him proud by winning the 3rd Addbrand Youth Cup at Abalti Barracks near Ojuelegba, Lagos.
