Wonderlight Football Academy’s Enterprising Defender Loves Trent Alexander’s Style

An enterprising right-full-back at Wonderlight Football Academy of Igando, Henry Marvellous has disclosed that he loves the style of England international defender, Trent Alexander-Arnold, who now plays for Real Madrid of Spain.

Sports247 reports that, though Trent could not make Madrid’s starting line-up in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League tie away to his former club, Liverpool of England, Marvellous put it down to fitness issues, not lack of ability.

Marvellous then thanked his coach at Wonderlight FA, Pelumi Dosunmu, for his regular training sessions at LA Primary School, Ikotun Road, and for teaching him the basics of being an ideal full-back.

Although he recalled that he used to be an attacker, Marvellous stressed that he has no regrets for the transition that made him become a defender.

“It just happened one day in training, and one of our defenders was not around. I volunteered to help the team at right-back, and our coach was happy with the way I played it. Since then, I’ve been a right-full-back,” Marvellous recalled.

He, however, admitted that his preferences are for attacking players, with many of them being the ones he admires most … due to his background as a winger.

That made the former student of Queen Maris College pick the duo of Ademola Lookman and Lionel Messi as his favourite players, with his thoughts even going for them ahead of Trent Alexander.

The highly articulate lad, who sat for this year’s secondary school leaving examination as a science student, thanked Wonderlight FA’s coach and the assistant, Adebayo Ayowole, for putting him on the right track towards becoming a successful footballer.

The youngster, who is fondly called ‘Marv17,’ because of his name and jersey number, disclosed: “I’m happy with the progress we are making as a new team in this area.
“We have squads for under-10, under-13, under-15, under-17, and senior boys. Our captain is Farouk Olatunde and the assistant is Adebayo Feranmi.”
