Ramon Azeez’s Brother Hunts For Talented Boys, Girls At Igando, Abaranje


Although former Super Eagles’ midfielder, Ramon Azeez is no longer in the spotlight, one of his brothers is keeping the family’s football connections alive by hunting for hidden talents at the grassroots.

Sports247 gathered that the former national team midfielder’s brother, Shakirudeen Azeez has taken their family’s love for football to another level by floating youth clubs in Igando and Abaranje, both of which are near Ikotun area of Lagos.

The two teams operate under the same brand name, Future Stars Football Academy, with Sansan Fied near Igando serving as base for the under-10 and under-13 boys’ squads, while the senior male players and girls train at a cite along Abaranje Road.

One of the coaches, Abdullahi Yusuf, who joined the outfit four years ago, told Sports247 that Future Stars Academy has already enacted many heroics withon the scope of their operations and he is happy to be part of the structure.

The former central defender, who hails from Oyo State capital, Ibadan, added: “This academy is growing very fast. In fact, the senior boys placed second at a competition they played last Friday at the National Stadium in Surulere.

“The girls are also doing well. They currently play in LAFA League and one of their best talents, Jumai, was invited to the under-17 national female team in 2023. She is now with a national league club.

“I am happy with what I am seeing here, and I pray that God will help me to achieve my targets for these players and myself. I played for Messiah FC before, and I believe that I can still do well with any league club if given the chance.”
