In a joint statement, the co-founders of the Africa School Games — Mrs. Aderoju Ope-Ajayi, Dr. Busola Tejumola, and Dr. Seun Akinbohun — commended Mr. Fatodu and the Lagos State Sports Commission for their instrumental role in making the event a resounding success.

“We deeply appreciate the Lagos State Sports Commission and the visionary leadership of Mr. Lekan Fatodu for their commitment to integrating sports into education. His passion and hands-on involvement have been pivotal in ensuring that initiatives like this thrive in Lagos and across Africa,” the organisers said.

They added that the DG’s active encouragement of school sports aligns perfectly with the mission of the African School Games — to discover, nurture, and empower the next generation of African athletes while promoting discipline, teamwork, and academic excellence.

Mr. Fatodu, who attended the event in person, praised the organisers for creating a platform that balances education and extracurricular engagement, noting that sports within schools serve as a powerful tool for character development and youth empowerment.

The organisers concluded by reaffirming their commitment to expanding the Games across the continent while continuing to partner with visionary leaders like Mr. Fatodu to build a stronger future for African sports.
