Osimhen’s Style Inspires Oladosu Reuben To Rain Goals In Support Of Crime Prevention, Youth Sustainability

A fast-rising Lagos-based youth footballer, Oladosu Reuben Oladapo is inspired by Galatasaray of Turkey striker, Victor Osimhen to keep growing on a daily basis and imbibe the art of raining lots of goals.

Although Osimhen is several nautical miles away and may never have heard about Oladosu, who trains in Bode Thomas area of Lagos, the youngster told Sports247 that he takes the 2023 African Footballer of The Year as his role model.

Oladosu disclosed as much few minutes after romping home a hat-trick in a pulsating exhibition match for AYICRIP-NELIS Football Academy at Legacy Pitch of Lagos National Stadium, Surulere.

Incidentally, the team’s name is a combined acronym for African Youth Initiative On Crime Prevention and Next Leaders Initiative Sustainability, with Oladosu among the talented kids being used as ambassadors to propel the progressive message through football.

After making hay thrice and leading his side to an 8-1 humiliation of their B-squad in the showcase match watched by some foreign scouts, Oladosu said he was personally satisfied with his performance.

The soft-spoken lad added, “I felt okay with my performance. As a striker, you have to score goals and create chances. That’s what I always try to do. It gives me joy that we won the game, and I was able to perform for my team.”

He then turned towards his personal targets in football and confessed that he would love to paint Europe red with goals like Osimhen has been doing in Germany, Belgium, France, Italy and now Turkey.

Oladosu continued, “In terms of my career, I’m looking forward to travelling out and becoming the next Osimhen. I try to follow his example as a striker. I score goals and try to do everything like him. I like his stature, his dribbling, his strength, and his speed.

I am working on myself. I go to the gym, keep fit, and train hard. I also pray that, when everything is ripe, I am hoping that God will bring help for me. In Africa, we look up to God, because everything is not by power alone.”

Oladosu did not rule out the possibility of him playing in the domestic league, with a view that God would direct him towards the right path for his career and make his dreams come true one way or the order.

“I am not ruling out the Nigerian league as a priority. If I see an opportunity in the Nigerian Professional Football League, I will use it to showcase my talent, and from there, you never can tell what will happen next.

I just want to progress as a footballer. That’s what I’ve always done all my life, and I hope God can turn this year into an opportunity for me,” Oladosu ended with solemn optimism in his voice
