Arsenal fear losing Obi-Martin amid interest from Ajax and Borussia Dortmund 

English Premier League club giants Arsenal fear losing talented Denmark U17 international of Nigerian descent, Chido Obi-Martin to a foreign club. 

According to bold.dk, the Gunners are at constant risk of losing the 16-year-old striker to a rival European club without being able to do anything.

The reason is that the rules for youth contracts are different in England compared to several other countries in Europe – and in this case it is a huge disadvantage for Arsenal.

The Danish-Nigerian center forward has already signed a pre-scholarship deal with Arsenal, which comes into effect on July 1, 2024.

As a result of the aforementioned rules, there is a real fear in Arsenal that Obi-Martin receives an offer he cannot refuse and therefore leaves the club before he turns 17.

Ajax Amsterdam and Borussia Dortmund, among others, have made it clear that they are ready with a lucrative package if the young striker wants to get a high salary here and now.

If one of the many interested clubs succeed in luring Obi-Martin away from the English capital, the transfer fee will only be based on UEFA’s rules for training compensation.

Arsenal have promoted Obi-Martin to the U18 team on a permanent basis but the plan is for him to play more and more often in the club’s U21 team as they aim to fend off interest from some of Europe’s elite clubs. 

He earned rave reviews from the media and football fans after scoring ten goals in a single game for Arsenal U16s in a 14-3 win over Liverpool in November 2023.
